About Us

OUR NAME

Saldesia was created by combining the powers of Salus, Roman Goddess of Safety, and Edesia, Roman Goddess of Food. As it takes a unique knowledge and expertise to support food and beverage processing facilities, we felt the need to create a Goddess dedicated to the industry. With great pride and honor, we present Saldesia: Goddess of Food Safety!

OUR HISTORY

Established in 2020, two brothers set out to combine their knowledge of Food Safety and Distribution in order to provide a focused selection of products and services. Saldesia and its extremely user-friendly website is the result of over 10 years of experience, and hard work to streamline the purchasing process while displaying products that impact the industry most.

Western Michigan, specifically Ludington, is home to our headquarters with a warehouse strategically located in Antioch, IL at the Illinois and Wisconsin border. These locations allow us to strategically service the Midwest and beyond. We hope you enjoy our creation and choose Saldesia: Goddess of Food Safety as your preferred supplier!

Our Products

Saldesia’s focus is to provide our customers with products and services that will help our customers maintain and improve their food safety programs and culture. Therefore our four product categories reflect those departments most involved with food safety: Quality, Production, Safety and Sanitation. Though each department is unique, their goal is the same and many of our products can be used to support and satisfy multiple departments. A few examples of our product lines are below and we will continue to add more products in order to support our customers.

  • Color Coded – color coding helps prevent cross-contamination and can help identify critical zones and control points. Examples include brushes, squeegees, scoops, spatulas and handles.
  • Metal Detectable – implementing metal detectable products can help identify foreign contaminants in your product and stop them from leaving your facility. Examples include pens, markers, safety knives and cable ties.
  • Touchless Dispensers – our line of touchless dispensers eliminate a contact point thus preventing the spread of harmful germs and bacteria
  • Raingear and Boots – allow you to protect your employees while keeping them comfortable and allowing them to complete the task at hand

What is Food Safety?

Per the USDA, “Food safety refers to the conditions and practices that preserve the quality of food to prevent contamination and food-borne illnesses.” Since 2011 when the Food Safety Modernization Act was signed, the FDA has emphasized preventing food safety problems rather than reacting after they occur. Food processing facilities have a responsibility to do their part and are audited by governmental agencies and third parties to ensure they are following regulations and guidelines. GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) plans are required and help facilities conform to these guidelines.
